Early to mid September, around the Marathon period, early morning and night temperature varies between 6-12° Celsius, and can go up to as high as 20° Celsius during daytime. For race day we recommend all participants to come dressed in track pants and light jacket until the race starts as it does get chilly in the mornings.

Below is just a clothing guideline and check-list. It is important to travel as light as possible and take only essentials.

Clothing – For All Running Disciplines

  • Running backpack
  • Dri-Fit Track pants / Running shorts / tights
  • Fleece jacket
  • Short sleeved / Long sleeved Dri-Fit T-shirts
  • Sun Hat or Cap or Bandana or Buff
  • Spare set of socks for race day for wet weather conditions
  • Sunglasses (with chums are a must for the two ultra runs Khardung La Challenge and Silk Route Ultra)
  • Sun cream / block and lip salve of factor 25 or higher
  • Hydration pack (as hydration points will have only water-refill facility)
  • Vaseline

Additional For Runners Of Silk Route Ultra And Khardung La Challenge

  • Thermal layers
  • Down jacket and windproof Parka
  • Warm winter cap – fleece/merino
  • Warm Gloves
  • Headlamp (with spare batteries)
  • Light waterproof / windproof jacket
  • Hydration Pack (hydration points will have water-refill facility)
  • Spare set of shoes and socks for wet weather conditions
  • Walking sticks/poles
  • Whistle
  • Runner needs to bring his/her own sleeping bag of minimum -5° C grade. Sleeping bag can also be hired at nominal charges from various outdoor gear shops in Leh.

Personal First Aid & Medical Kit To Include

Besides, please check with your physician and carry antihistamines and antibiotics for common ailments.
